Elizabeth locked herself in a room, for a day and a half, yet still feeling the sensation of Stefan's blood. How energetic that had made her. Although she was extremely sorry to have to hurt him. A man who had made her blush. The only one who made her blush after William Carstairs. She was deeply guilty and was fighting the urge to apologise to him, as for not to hurt him. And that was when she realised. Stefan's a human? she thought.
Negotiation was done and there she was, on her way to Stefan's house.
"Why are you not like the rest of us?" she asked, slamming the door to Stefan's house open.
"I've always been the way I am. And you'll probably rip my door open if you keep doing that." Stefan joked.
"Are human even allowed to mingle with vampires? Aren't we dangerous?"
"Well, why do you think Heather and Will go to the same school as me?"
Elizabeth couldn't reply to that one. He made his point.
"You're not still thinking about it, are you?"
"No," she lied.
Unfortunately for her, Stefan knew better. He kept it to himself, though. Knowing Lizzie who prefers to keep things to herself.
"We must bring Elizabeth to the Council. As soon as possible if not now." Heather tried to convince Will. With hopes as high as the highest mountain that Lizzie was going to be executed.
"We'll see what happens," was all Will's reply as he left her alone.
It didn't matter to Heather because she was positive that Lizzie would disappear from her life soon. Disappear for good. Well, Heather's good.
It's been a week and Will still hasn't thought of anything that he could possibly do to Lizzie. Let alone do it literally. How hurt can a man be if he knows he might just hurt the girl he loves? That's exactly how Will was feeling. As if reading Will's scattered mind, Heather showed up bringing the most mind blowing news for Will and the most mind boggling news for Heather; The Council would be organising the Annual Ball that very night. Which could only mean one thing. The Council will find out about Lizzie. And her first kill.
Will turned to face Heather with a very concerned expression, written vividly across his handsome face. Heather knew that he was concerned of, none other than Elizabeth, which actually ripped her heart open. And that's it, she, from the very second, refused to talk to Lizzie the friendly way she used to be.
The Council, made up of countless ancient Vampires -the ones who turned more human into vampires- were fully clad in Tuxedos arriving as a.. Well, Council. The Ball, that night, was held at its usual place, Cincinnati Convention Center, very well known as the largest convention centre in America.
Elizabeth was nervously excited to meet the Council for the very first time, or at least she thought it was. Her sleeveless, knee-length fluid skirt, blood red dress showed off her curves and made her legs look longer. Her Viva La Diva Peep Toe Shoe was black in colour and expressed herself just right in addition with her multi strand chains necklace just made her look even more stunning.
"You look beautiful, Lizzie" came Stefan's voice out of no where, which of course, startled Lizzie.
"Stefan. Thanks. Aren't you- oh. Right." Lizzie replied, frustrated.
"Yes, I'm not coming. I'm not your kind, remember?" Stefan said with a smile.
"I really wish you could come with me.."
I wish you can stay. Don't go. "Yeah, me too." stay, Lizzie, please.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Will croaked, as he entered Lizzie's room.
"There isn't a sign on the door saying 'NO STEFAN ALLOWED', is there?" replied Stefan sarcastically.
"You! This is Lizzie's room. You have no rights to be IN here."
"Well, if I don't have rights, then so do you."
Will and Stefan glared at each other for what it seemed like five minutes to Elizabeth but happened to be only ten seconds in reality.
"STOP IT!" Lizzie snapped. "I'm out of here. Come on, Will. We don't want to be late."
Lizzie took a last glance before she left her room. Stefan was sighing in defeat, and he looked, irritated.
Heather was looking glamorous, like every year, and was already at the conVention centre the moment Will and Lizzie arrived.
"Will! Over here!" Heather shouted, waving her hand, unaware of Lizzie beside him.
Well, like what people always say, 'You can't see anyone else when you see someone you love'. Until Will and Lizzie were right in front of him. Eyeing Lizzie from head to toe, she couldn't help but stare at her beauty. But quickly snapped back to reality.
"Lizzie! There you are, sweetie. I'd like you to meet Our Council. I'm sure you're excited, yes?" Heather spoke in her sweetest tone.
"Why, yes, I'm so excited to meet them." Lizzie replied politely, and sincerely meant it.
"Heather, we just got here." William pleaded, knowing what would happen next; Lizzie's execution.
"Sooner or later, Will, it doesn't make any difference."
William sighed in defeat and let go of Lizzie and looked at her for the last time. In case he won't see her anymore. Forever.
"Lizzie, meet, Charlie Rafferty, our Head of Council." Heather said after she found the council.
"Nice to meet you, um, sir," replied Lizzie.
"Please, everyone calls me Charlie," said a young, handsome man standing in front of her.
Lizzie was surprised, somehow, seeing the head of the council whom they called ancient, looking very young, probably on his late twenties.
"Why, I heard you're a newly bitten, is it?"
"Yes, according to Heather,"
"You do look familar. Who bit you?"
"It's complicated. It's been almost a month now. And all I remember is, I passed out 140 years ago in a ball and woke up in this bizarre place, which I was informed, known as Brooklyn and-"
Lizzie paused, looking at the stunned face, namely Charlie's. Heather was silent too, not knowing what to say. And finally, Heather broke the awkward silence.
"You see, Charlie, this is the reason why I brought Lizzie here with you. Probably, you can help explain this unexplained phenomena?"
"Hmm, looks like you'll have to come with us, Lizzie, isn't it?"
"It's Elizabeth, but Lizzie's great."
"Alright, Lizzie, you're coming with us, for the moment."
